Flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party

The flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party is supposed to be mainly used vertically. It is vertically divided yellow-blue with a green triangle charged with a yellow fleur-de-lis in upper part. When hoisted horizontally, the flag must have the blue stripe above the yellow one, although some yellow-blue flags were inadvertently produced. The fleur-de-lis shall always point towards the shorter side of the flag, thereofre it is displayed horizontally, facing the hoist, in horizontal flags.
The green triangle and the yellow fleur-de-lis should are obvious references to the Islamic religion and the Bosnian nation, respectively. The blue and yellow stripes indicate the European orientation of the party.

Variant fo the flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party - Image by Tomislav Todorović, Mladen Mijatov & Željko Heimer, 16 December 2005

A new variant of the flag of the Sandžak Democratic Party has appeared during the campaign for local elections in Serbia, which took place in September 2004. It is supposed to be mainly used horizontally, although its vertical hoisting was also seen. The flag is horizotally divided, yellow over blue, with a green triangle based at the hoist and charged with a yellow fleur-de-lis in vertical position. When the flag is hoisted vertically, blue is on the left-hand and yellow on the right-hand side and the fleur-de-lys is positioned vertically again, pointing towards the hoist. The height of the triangle seems to be a bit greater when the flag is hoisted vertically, so that the fleur-de-lis can fit in.
The new variant of the flag is used along with the old one, as could be seen in the Belgrade magazine Reporter, #310, pp. 14-15, 22 September 2004.
